UMASS ended two losing streaks in a 41-30 victory over NM State.
The Aggies (0-1) fell to UMass (1-0) 41-30 at Aggie Memorial Stadium. NM State offense had 458 total yards with a balanced mix of 248 passing yards and 210 yards on the ground. Junior QB Diego Pavia threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Monte Watkins rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on two touches. UMass had four rushing touchdowns and a defensive score.
With their victory, UMASS ends a 24 road game losing streak. Another streak UMASS said goodbye to? They last won a season opener on the road against an FBS opponent in 1973 against Rutgers.
