POOL PREDICITONS

Pool A: Albuquerque High can compete with most teams and will have a shot at making the gold bracket. Atrisco Heritage has a tough draw for pool play. St. Pius X is a tough 4A program that can compete with larger schools. The Sartans will give a good fight in every match they play. La Cueva is the returning Metro champion that everyone is gunning for and they look as dominant as ever. The Bears are the odds on favorite to take the Metro trophy again.
Gold Advancers: La Cueva, St. Pius X

Pool B:
Los Lunas is having a great start to the season. These Tigers will be a threat for a championship appearance. Rio Rancho is a strong team. They took La Cueva to five sets in the first game of the season. The Rams can compete with the best of them. Valley comes into the tournament 0-2 and will be trying to turn things around. Manzano will have their hands full with two tough opponents in the Tigers and the Rams.
Gold Advancers: Los Lunas, Rio Rancho

Pool C:
Cibola is a top team in the state and will make it into the gold bracket. They are a dangerous team that should not be overlooked. Sandia and Eldorado will compete to see who is the second team out of this pool. Rio Grande comes into the tournament 3-0. They have the potential to shock some unsuspecting teams.
Gold Advancers: Cibola, Sandia

Pool D:
Cleveland looks very good this year and should have no problem with this pool. St. Michael’s will be looking to make a statement as a the only 3A school in the tournament. Volcano Vista is capable of beating any team in this pool. They are a very feisty unit. Don’t overlook the Hawks. West Mesa has to compete with three top teams in the state to try to make it out of this pool.
Gold Advancers: Cleveland, St. Michael’s

Pool Play

September 12
First match begins at 4:30pm. Matches 1 and 2 will be scheduled with a 15 minute warm up session. All other matches will be scheduled with a 9 minute warm up session, 3-3-3 format.

There are a handful of teams that might be able to knock La Cueva off the Metro throne. We think Cibola, Los Lunas, and Rio Rancho have the best chance at doing so.
