Las Cruces Showcases Skill in Rio Rancho Volleybash

The Las Cruces Bulldawgs (10-1) won the Rio Rancho Volleybash championship match against Cibola at Rio Rancho High. They swept the match in three sets, with scores of 25-16, 25-23, and 25-19. Las Cruces has not dropped a set since their last loss to El Paso Franklin on August 26. Las Cruces, led by Addison Massey, dominated the final match, only facing a challenge in the second set. Cibola’s libero, Makayla Martinez, had an amazing effort digging balls out for the Cougars the entire match.

Las Cruces emerged triumphant over Rio Rancho in the semifinals. With an impressive 3-0 victory. Cibola took care of Cleveland in the other semi, setting the stage for a clash of titans in the tournament.

The third place match featured rivals, Rio Rancho and Cleveland. Facing an uphill battle after losing the first two sets, the Storm demonstrated sheer resilience and unyielding perseverance. Against the odds, they clawed their way back coming out victorious in a heart-pounding five-set showdown.

La Cueva Faces Elite Competition

Las Cruces will have a bout with the La Cueva Bears on Tuesday in a match that features the two top teams in the state. La Cueva spent the weekend in Arizona at the Nike Tournament of Champions.

The Bears (8-3) were in the top division (National) possible out of three. They ranked 11th out of 16 teams in their final championship bracket. While their consecutive winning streak ended in Arizona, La Cueva still has a 54-match winning streak against New Mexico teams that they will put on the line against Las Cruces this coming week.
