UNM endured numerous mistakes in the first half. These included three significant special teams plays allowed. This led to a 56-14 loss to the visiting UNLV Rebels. The game’s abundance of errors featured three long punt returns. There was also a fumbled snap on a punt and a fumble return inside the 10-yard line.
The 42-point loss was UNM’s worst in a conference game since October 27, 2018. They lost 61-19 at Utah State that day. The last time UNM lost by 42 at home was on October 22, 2011 when Air Force beat them 42-0.
UNLV leads the all time series with New Mexico, 15-12. UNLV has three straight victories against New Mexico with four straight in Albuquerque.
