
Jason Eck is the New UNM Football Head Coach
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – FOOTBALL
Jason Eck has led the University of Idaho to three consecutive FCS playoff appearances. He has been named the new head coach of the University of New Mexico football program. Eck brings 26 years of coaching experience across FBS, FCS, and Division II levels. At Idaho, he transformed the program, increasing win totals each year and achieving two FCS quarterfinal appearances. Notable victories include wins over FBS teams like Wyoming and Nevada.

Before Idaho, Eck served as the offensive coordinator at South Dakota State. He helped the team to reach multiple FCS semifinal appearances. He also led them to a national championship game. Eck is known for his offensive expertise. He excels in player development. Eck has coached numerous All-Americans and award winners, including Jerry Rice Award recipients. His coaching journey includes stops at Montana State, Minnesota State, Ball State, and Western Illinois.
Eck, a Wisconsin alumnus and former player, focuses on building strong team culture. He also develops student-athletes academically and athletically. He and his wife Kimberly have five children and are excited to join the Albuquerque and Lobo Nation communities.
