The New Mexico Lobos kept their early season unbeaten streak alive with a hard-earned 1-0 victory at Oregon State, marking their second clean sheet in as many games. The win was not only historic — UNM’s first ever over OSU — but also underscored the team’s growing confidence under pressure.
Early Pressure Pays Off
From the opening whistle, the Lobos pushed forward aggressively. Just six minutes into the match, a corner kick set the tone: Fiona Jenkins floated in a ball that found Gabby Beaudry, who tapped home for the match’s only goal. It was Beaudry’s second goal of the season, and Jenkins’ sixth assist. The score was the fastest goal UNM had scored all season.
Defensive Resolve & Goalkeeping Excellence
- Alyson Campbell, making her first career start in goal, delivered a composed, confident performance: she made six saves, including several clutch stops from close range.
- UNM’s defense cleared multiple dangerous corners and shot attempts throughout the game. Oregon State outshot UNM 17-12 overall and had the edge in corner kicks (11-7), but the Lobos held firm.
What Made It Significant
- This was UNM’s first ever win at Oregon State.
- It was their third clean sheet of the season already, and the second in a single week — a sign that the back line and goalkeeper are locking in early.
- With this result, the Lobos moved to 3-0-2 on the season, setting them up strong for upcoming rivalry matches back at home.
What’s Next
UNM returns to Albuquerque to face New Mexico State this Sunday at 1:30 p.m. MT. If the defense and attack bring the same early intensity they showed in Corvallis, the Lobos have a real chance to build momentum and continue their unbeaten stretch.
