NMAA Football: Lightning Ends Albuquerque High, Eldorado Thriller in 43-43 Tie
ALBUQUERQUE — Albuquerque High and Eldorado fought to a 43-43 overtime tie Thursday night, with lightning bringing an early end to a dramatic homecoming game for the Eagles.
The Bulldogs controlled much of the night, holding the lead through the third quarter. Eldorado, however, came out strong after halftime and steadily closed the gap as the Eagles fought their way back into the game.
The comeback eventually erased Albuquerque High’s advantage, and the teams finished regulation tied 35-35, sending the game to overtime.
Both offenses found the end zone in overtime to make it 43-43, but the teams never got an opportunity to settle the game on the field. Lightning forced play to stop, and the game was ultimately called, leaving the Bulldogs and Eagles tied after a wild finish.
