Del Norte secured its first win of the season, defeating Rio Grande 32–6 in a convincing performance at Milne Stadium. The Knights broke through the Ravens’ defense early and maintained control throughout the contest.
Opening drives set the tone: Del Norte punched in an early touchdown and forced turnovers to stall Rio Grande’s counters. Their ground game proved effective, consistently gaining yards and keeping the chains moving.
Rio Grande’s offense had a brief spark midway, engineering a drive that resulted in their lone touchdown, narrowing the gap temporarily. But Del Norte answered quickly, executing efficient drives and capitalizing on momentum swings.
Del Norte’s defense was a backbone in this win: they limited the Ravens to minimal yardage, forced turnovers, and kept pressure on the quarterback all night. Their physicality and assignment discipline were keys in shutting down Rio Grande’s attacks.
The victory moves Del Norte into the win column this season and gives them a morale boost heading into district play. For Rio Grande, the loss continues a difficult stretch, highlighting areas of needed growth on both sides of the ball.
