The Albuquerque Academy Chargers stunned their rivals, the St. Pius X Sartans, 49-36 on Saturday, handing the previously 4-0 Sartans their first loss of the season.
St. Pius running back Hershul Olloway Jr. led the way for the Sartans with four touchdowns, while wide receiver Cayl Cox-Liggins and quarterback Isaiah Carpenter also delivered strong performances.
Despite a fast start from St. Pius, the Chargers came out of halftime with renewed energy and determination. Quarterback William Braun commanded the offense efficiently, connecting with wide receiver Finn Thompson on key plays to shift momentum in Academy’s favor.
The win improves the Chargers to 3-3 on the season and marks a statement victory in one of Albuquerque’s most intense rivalries.
