March 11, 2026 – THE PIT, Albuquerque, NM

In one of the most thrilling games of the day, the Cleveland Storm narrowly escaped the Carlsbad Cavemen, 54-53.

Carlsbad came out and punched Cleveland in the mouth to set the tone early, ending the first quarter with a 15-9 lead. The Storm gained their composure in the 2nd, outscoring Carlsbad 23-13.

The second half stayed neck and neck until the very last second. With 7 seconds left, Carlsbad’s Zee Huerta was able to dribble through the defense, create some room inside the paint and get a soft floater off. The shot bounced off the back of the rim, dashing Carlsbad’s hopes of a major upset.

Remy Albrecht had 20 PTS and 4 STL for the Storm. Brycen Bowie contributed 13 PTS.

Carlsbad Head Coach John Zumbrun, said the game plan was to try to stop Remy and make the other guys beat them. Saying this about Remy, “Unbelievable talent, he puts so much pressure on teams…they had open looks because we give so much attention to Remy”

Zumbrun was appreciative of the amazing ride the Cavemen took this postseason speaking about his team, “I’m proud of them. They just believe in themselves, they are in the game because they have something inside of them.”

Cleveland advances to face the winner from the Rio Rancho vs Sandia match up in the semis.
