The Taos Tigers and Del Norte Knights played in a class 4A quarterfinal. Taos controlled the game, moving on with a 62-49 final.
Taos had four players who scored 10 plus points. Malakhai Ely went 10-11 on FG, scoring 23 PTS and pulling down 9 REB. Mario Rodriguez put up 16 PTS shooting 3-7 from three. Gene Padilla added 11 PTS and Roman Quintana had 10.
Del Norte senior Francois Satchivi played most of the game in foul trouble but still managed a 19 PT performance.
Last time Taos made it to the semis was in 2023 when they upset Highland to advance.
Del Norte Head Coach, Jeron McCintosh, noted the outstanding performance Taos had. “We didn’t make enough plays to win the game. Credit to them. They made a ton of shots.”
Taos now has a match up with the 1 seed, Highland, scheduled for tomorrow.
