Volleyball – Sandia vs Eldorado Game Recap

In a district match, the Sandia Matadors and Eldorado Eagles played at Sandia High School on Wednesday 10/12.

The Eagles took charge of set number one, winning 25-17. Co-Captains and seniors, OH #3 Reese Russell and MH #4 Haley King-Mead, gave Eldorado huge kills and points throughout the set.

Set two, the Matadors held off a late Eagle run to win 25-21. Junior OH, #4 Kendall Fenstermacher, and senior MH #6 Zoe Allen provided timely points to keep the momentum for Sandia.

In set three, both teams exchanged points until Haley King Meade had back-to-back points on a block and kill to put the Eagles up 12-8. Sandia was able to pull back to within two later in the set but an Eagle run led to a Matador timeout at 22-16. Eldorado came out of the timeout with a run to end the set, 25-18.

Eldorado came out in set four on fire, running up a substantial lead to start out. The Matadors pulled it together to make a late run, but they couldn’t overcome the initial lead, eventually dropping the set 25-18 and the match 3-1.
