The gold bracket for the 2025 APS Metro Boys Soccer Championships featured three premiere soccer programs from Albuquerque and one from Rio Rancho. The four teams? La Cueva, Rio Rancho, Rio Grande, and Atrisco Heritage Academy. Both games delivered action as expected.
La Cueva quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead and never looked back. Eventually defeating Rio Rancho 3-1 and advancing to the championship match.
Rio Grande netted one early goal off a rebound after a mishandled shot by the goalkeeper from a free kick. That was all the Ravens needed as the rest of the game went scoreless by either team. Rio Grande took the victory 1-0 over Atrisco and moves on to face La Cueva in the championship match which will be held at 7pm on September 5 at the APS Soccer Complex.
