ALBUQUERQUE — The Cottonwood Classical Prep Coyotes advanced to the Class A/3A state semifinals with a commanding 4-0 victory over the Rehoboth Christian Lynx in Friday’s quarterfinal matchup at Mesa del Sol. The win improves Cottonwood’s record to 19-2, while Rehoboth Christian ends its season at 8-12.

Cottonwood wasted little time taking control of the match. The Coyotes applied pressure from the opening kickoff and struck early with multiple goals in the first half. The team built a 3-0 lead before intermission and never looked back.

Sophomore #7 Jaiden Brown had two goals. Junior #5 Abby Dyer was instrumental in providing assists and controlling the ball for the Coyotes. Senior goalkeeper Nicole Hicks secured the clean sheet.

Defensively, Cottonwood’s back line stifled Rehoboth’s offense throughout. The Lynx failed seriously threaten the Coyotes’ net in the entire game. The clean sheet marks an opening Coyotes’ playoff shutout and continues a streak of defensive consistency that began prior to the postseason.

With the victory, Cottonwood Classical now shifts focus to the state semifinal, eyeing the program’s first state title run. Their balanced attack, depth of scoring, and defensive strength position them as one of the most formidable teams in the bracket. Rehoboth Christian, meanwhile, ends the season on a hard note but can take pride in navigating the playoffs and maintaining competitive spirit throughout.
